Artist Statement

As I was building Tattoo One Eight I started to think about what I wanted to do differently this time. This studio represents the collection of challenges and successes as a Professional Tattoo Artist, Graphic Designer and Fine Artist over the past 13 years. A fresh start. A rebirth from the ashes after bathing in fire, if you will.

This was a chance to reinvent myself and the space I will be creating in. I began to think what am I made of? What kind of artist am I? Failing at so many things over the years taught me I am resilient. Succeeding at so many things taught me that I am humble. The combination, along with the ongoing support of my community, taught me gratitude.

Now, what kind of artist am I? Or, more importantly what kind of artist do I want to be? As I thought about this I imagined myself in the shoes of some of the greats. Specializing in a certain style or medium. Or maybe developing a style all my own. As great as that sounds, that just isn't me. I'm an artist for the people. I believe as a tattooer, that's what I have to be. That's the kind of artist I want to be.

I want to create something with you that your soul feels proud of showing off. I believe thats what tattoos are. Minor glimpses into our psyche. A look at what makes you, you. They are your story. Give me your idea and I'll do everything I can to make it the reality. I'll put my flare on it of course. Utilizing all the creative knowledge, tricks, hacks and experience I've accumulated over the past decade. After all, you will have this forever!
