Tattoo Aftercare
The bandage applied to the tattoo before leaving is a medical bandage specifically designed to heal skin. Though it is covered completely it is still getting fresh air and keeping your "wound" sterile.
Please leave the bandage on for TWO nights. After the two nights, on the THIRD day, remove the bandage and discard. Wash the tattoo with a gentle anti-bacterial hand soap and water. Continue keeping the tattoo clean throughout the day, washing it at least 1-2 times a day.
Along with keeping your tattoo clean begin moisturizing once the bandage has been removed. Unscented hand lotions are the recommended product or coconut oil as the only other alternative. The more you moisturize the better the tattoo will heal.
Do not use any thick or greasy ointments to heal your tattoo. This coats the skin and doesn't allow for the tattoo to get fresh air and will effect the healing tattoo negatively.
Do not scratch or pick at your tattoo! The tattoo will flake skin similar to a sunburn, this is normal, do not pick at it. The tattoo will also itch as it is healing. This is also normal and usually a sign it is in need of moisturizing. Lotion and slap the tattoo to relieve any itching.
Do not soak your healing tattoo in water or expose it to the sun for long periods of time until the tattoo is fully healed.
The bandage is "water proof" meaning you can shower with the bandage on and it can get wet. However, DO NOT soak or submerge the bandage as it will effect the bandages longevity.
The bandage will collect fluid being released from the tattoo. This is normal and nothing to be concerned about. It does not mean anything is wrong, nothing is falling out, and does not mean take the bandage off early.
